Sons medicine ?s

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

My son has been on Wellbutrin SR for about 7 weeks now .He was doing alot better till this past week he has gotten back to being very agressive and hyper. His teacher does not report any changes since the doctor dont talk with her about my son. However his title 1 teacher told me today he was acting up today and last week.I dont really know what to do I am in the process of finding a new psychartrist for him .He wont talk to the one he has now he sits there for the whole time and dont say a word and I feel it is a waste of money with thisone. He also say behavior modification takes to long to do and did not and wont suggest anything to do like his pedatrican does.Could he just be needing his meds adjusted ?

Maybe. Who put him on his Wellburtin? If that was the psychiatrist or the pediatrician, they need to be told that it doesn’t seem to be helping as it did in the first few weeks. It’s not uncommon that doctors and teachers won’t speak directly so it will fall to you to be the bridge between them and report to the doctor what the teachers have told you.

There are lots of doctors and psychiatrists out there. You deserve to have one that your son feels comfortable with.

Good luck.

Did you ever consider going to a psychologist and a psychiatrist? My son goes to the psychiatrist once a month right now for medication management. We see her together for about 20 minutes or so. My son has been going through a lot of changes in his meds because he is an ADDer who does not respond well to the stimulants. He is presently on Wellbutrin SR and Adderall for his ADD. We are trying to taper off the Adderall because it seems to cause him some “tics”. My son then goes to a psychologist that he gets along terrific with. My son sees him right now about every 3 weeks or so depending on when either one of us feels the need. If you have insurance coverage many companies will cover both. The psychologist takes a longer time with my son and makes recommendations to the psychiatrist because he sees him for longer times. (he is also less expensive than the psychiatrist)
