Hi, I am new to this board and hope to find some sharing in all the good and the bads.
I have a 15 year old son who is on Adderall. Very bright but also very ADD. He is a real blast, lots of humor and a good student. But ADD also brings up lots of questions and problems.
My first fright is driving ed. Are there any parents who can tell me how these kids learn to drive? It is so hard for my son to do 2 things at the same time. I am so afraid to let him out on the roads.
My second problem is that my son a lot of times can not see the difference between reality and fantasy. That is very frightening for us parents. He creates these ideas in his head and before you know it is real to him. I did try to protect him a lot in the past but got burned a lot of times. He thinks that I am mean and try to hurt him. And it does hurt him, and I have to do things that will hurt him. But soon I have to let him go in the real world and then what?
It is all so close now. In 2 years he is going to college.
Are there any parents out there who feel the same things and have the same issues?
Thanks for your patience. Sissy.
