vision therapy graduate!

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

My daughter had her final vision therapy evaluation last night! She has graduated! She has gone from as far below average as you can go (1%) in some areas to above average! However, I have to wonder how much of the progress was vision therapy and how much was medication working! She started VT with us not knowing she was adhd. She came across as severely perceptually impaired. Then she was diagnosed adhd and started Concerta. After a few weeks we had her retested because we didn’t know if it was worth continuing the VT. She had improved so she tested low normal. She continued VT but only once a week. She absolutely hated the homework so we didn’t push it. Then her meds were increased and then last night she was retested. Now she’s showing no perceptual impairment! I’ve been questioning how helpful the VT has been but afraid to stop in case it is benefiting her. So, now I am just glad that six months of weekly sessions is over! Hurray! Another step towards just being a kid!

Cogratulations Jen, and of course, to your daughter too! That is wonderful news, and thanks for sharing it. :)
