What is "dual enrollment"?

Since I am contemplating homeschooling my highschooler in core subjects next year (and maybe as soon as a couple of weeks), I am interested in the advantages of this concept. I thought legally school district had to allow you to use the school for any subjects you chose if you were homeschooling, not so? If a person goes this way does the child graduate with his/her class at their home highschool? Any info would be appreciated! Thanks in advance (o:
