I am a 34 year old female teacher with 10 years of experience. Currently I teach a small class of 12 students with various learning disabilities. I hold a Level 1 Wilson Certification and have been tutoring using the Wilson Reading System for the past 6 years. I have experience working in a private, 1:1 setting, as well as implementing the system within a small-group.
Wilson is a multi-sensory approach to teaching decoding, encoding and comprehension to students who experience reading difficulties. Wilson is successful because it gives students specific rules and provides them with a stepwise approach to learning sounds, word structure and fluency. Students feel successful because they no longer have to discover the rules of words themselves - they are provided with a specific skill-set to demystify decoding and comprehension.
