Masters Degree

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

I have my undergraduate degree in Special Ed/Elementary Ed and I’m looking to now go back and get my masters. I’m just not sure what are my options. I want to stay in Special Ed and work in the classroom for the next 10-15 years. Then, I would like to be a Special Education Coordinator for a school system. What would any of you recommend I take for graduate courses? thanks

What do you want to do?
SOunds like you want to be an administrator — I don’t know if there are courses for sliding over to the Dark Side or not.
I found that it was the training outside grad school that did the most good for the students.
And the biggest question is — what options do you have to choose from? I chose my grad stuff by looking at a couple of schools and seeing who the faculty were, going to ERIC (http://ericir.syr.edu — notice, no www in the address) and searching for their names under “author.” I went where they were writing about stuff I was interested in and took classes with those folks.

I would like to be the person who oversees the special ed. program of a district. I’m not sure if you would consider that an administrative position or not.

hi!
I have a multiple subject credential with a Masters in education and wanted to find out about getting a specialist or reading credential.

Are you familiar with any place in the LA area that provides a reputed program? Is there any place that i can do a program online or distance learning?
Thank you.
Susan
