Medication vs. herbal supplements

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

I wanted to see what people have thought about the issue of medication that helps with ADD. What kind of medication is good and what are the benefits and the side effects. I felt like a different person when I was taking aderall and at times I thought it was changing my personality. This past year I have started taking various herbal supplements that really are hard to take because I have eight pills to take daily and if I am not recieving a proper diet and exercising the way I am supposed to than it really is ineffective. If anybody has any advice or wants to share with a struggling college student that is at her witts end, please share anything from your heart.

I have to wonder. If you’re receiving a proper diet & getting exercise, then that in itself might be enough! THose herbal supplement sellers make a *lot* of money off that stuff. It can change personalities too.
Hang in there. I don’t know your situation but I do know that right now lots and lots of college students feel at their wits’ end. The best thing to do is to keep eating right and exercising . And if the herbal supplements have been helping then now is probably not a good time to change ! Do you have a support system for staying organized and getting things done? That can be the biggest help.

There’s been a lot of buzz lately about fatty acids and brain function. Fish oils contain the omega 3s and omega 6s that have many health benefits including brain function the brain contains alot of fat. I read that borage oil is quite good as is evening primrose oil.
