Private School Frustration

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

Hello,
I have currently a rising senior at a Private High School I have attended for 13 years. I was diagnosed with A.D.D. and dyscalculia. I have struggled academically for as far back as I remember. I having been struggling with Math for so long that it has almost become traumatic for me. This past school year (my junior year) I was enrolled in standard Algebra 2. My mom met with the learning specialist and my teacher to show his my documentation. He seemed very relaxed about it and even sympathized with my mom. In his class, I never once forgot my homework, I took notes, and went to tutoring twice a week. I have been going to tutoring for math related problems since second grade. My teacher was what I would call random. He would put random problems on the board and expect everyone in the class to understand it. If I did not understand the homework I meet with him before school, after school, and anytime I had a break. I sent countless emails to him which I received little response. Yesterday, I took my Algebra 2 exam. I used my whole extended time and put my whole heart in to it. I went to tutoring numerous times before to prepare for it. I failed it. My teacher, who was almost never at school decided he would not pass me. I’m just so so SO FRUSTRATED. At this point I don’t know if they will send me to summer school or not. Has anyone else had a similar experience? I just don’t know how a teacher could fail someone who put a great amount of effort and time in his class. I was diligent and did what I was supposed to do. The stress of it has caused me constant anxiety and can’t imagine spending my whole summer in summer school.
