ADD & lecture notes & reading

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

I have a student who has come to me saying that he is having trouble
keeping up with the reading in my course. His big problem is that he
is
ADD, which means he can’t study in groups, needs total peace & quiet
when
he studies, and has trouble taking notes (sometimes, when he stops to
write
something down he loses his train of thought and then can’t get back on
to
the main task of reading or listening to lecture).

I suggested a couple of things—tape the lectures and use his car as a
study carrel instead of studying in the library. I also suggested
annotating his books rather than keeping a separate notebook for text
readings. Do you have any proven suggestions that might help this
chap?
Thanks
Jodie

Lecturer writes key words on board. Lecturer uses repetition and spiraling back during the lecture. Buddy system- another student or students share their notes with this student. Is the material in the lectures also in the book? If not, could teacher share his/her outline with the student?
