Alphasmart support

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

Hello,
I have 3 literacy classes consisting of 5 students each. I have one student with the Alphasmart keyboard and we have had great success so far. I would like to utilize the Alphasmart keyboard with my http://www.PaperlessClassroom.com site. I have some incredible resources that will allow me to take the information from the keyboard (or PDA) and directly enter it into portions of my site. My students are eager and in need of this technology! The application is focused on the students’ I.E.P., Core Curriculum Standards, and Workplace Readiness Standards of New Jersey.
I am looking for a company or individual that would like to help my class financially (and receive recognition for doing so.) There have been several requests by the media for publicizing what we are doing in our class.

If anyone knows of any source of funding for these keyboards (or similar technology products) by the private sector please let me know!

If anyone at LDOnline has knowledge of attaining this funding, or can assist in anyway please contact me at your earliest convenience.

We have the technology, motivation, and ability but need the equipment.

Thank you,
Mr. Clarke’s Class

Inspiration (www.inspiration.com) is offering a grant for projects involving technology. TAM of CEC (www.cec.sped.org) has had grants available in the past, but I have not checked lately. There are also some grants through NEA.

Inspiration works well with the AlphaSmarts in the outline mode. My students enjoy the activities.

Good luck.

Kay
