anyone recommend a homeschooling curriculum?

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

My son was diagnosed with a genetic condition that causes learning difficulties - especially with reading. I am considering homeschooling him. Would any of the homeschooling parents have any recommendations for curriculums? He should be starting Junior Kindergarten this year in Canada. Thank you.

For reading I would recommend ABeCeDarian - a lot of homeschoolers use it. The web site is www.abcdrp.com, and there is also a Yahoo bulletin board group you can join from that site.

For math I personally would recommend Math-U-See - it is a homeschool curriculum that is widely popular. The web site is www.mathusee.com. Both programs have free on-line placement tests, both have excellent customer service, and are fairly reasonably priced, as far as curriculums go. Math - U- See has excellent re-sale value.

I hope these help!

I use Lexia software. My students love it and it seems to cover all the bases. It grows with the child.

Children with SLD often have socail skills which can also lag. Might I suggest a school and subsidize his reading at home?
