Getting the proper resources for my students

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

For many years I have struggled with getting the proper books and programs for my classroom and my students. My district is quite small and not very good at making sure I have the right things. I am generally quite a shy person and am afraid to ask in order to get what my students need. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to go about getting the proper resources for my students?

Hi and welcome to the forum.
Your best approach could be to talk to parents of your students, and get their support. A few phone calls to the principal from parents, can help get things moving!

Thank you so much for your response. My biggest struggle with that is our principal will generally ask me what I need, but I don’t feel that my district has ever invested any time in my program and given me a direction that I should be going. I know that I can get things from my parents because I come from a pretty well to do community, but I feel that the distrct has some responsibility to at least set up the program.
