How to help students cope with state testing

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

I am an LD teacher in a resource room setting with students at the elementary grade levels. In about 1 month I will be administering the state tests in reading and math. The students have accommodations for testing but of course the reading sections, along with the questions, cannot be read to the student. Many of my students read far below grade level and it is heart-breaking to see them struggle through these tests. Does anyone have any strategies that they have found helpful?
