I need your help!
I am a student doing a PG course in a museum-studies related subject.
Since I am dyslexic myself (I am quite sure about that, even if I have never been assessed) I have chosen for my dissertation project to look at the ways the museum visit can benefit the LD child.
I saw that as an opportunity to explore a bit further my own condition looking at a topic that, in my opinion, is quite overlooked in the field of museum studies while offering great potential.
I, for example, have really very sweet memories of my museum visits as a kid. I clearly remember the sense of relief I use to feel when, while wondering at the museum galleries I realized that there were easier ways to learn interesting stuff and that I was capable of doing it without struggling…
Anyway, here is the request. In order to proceed with my project I need to talk with some specialist.

Exactly, the multi-sensory path is the one I am trying to take… Thanks for the suggestion though!
The project is on a theoretical level, I am not working with any particular museum. Even though I think it would have been more interesting in that way.

Dyslexic too! And an epigrapher! (I read ancient egyptian writing as a study and will do it as a carreer.) I am glad to know i am not the only one that loved the museum! I think it is important to note that many with LD have excessively creative minds. We are not different in that we have questions about the world we live in and we are not opposed to seeking out the answers. We creatively interpret things take things apart and put them back together. I find this process of dyslexia in my brain actually helpful when i am interpreting an ancient people. Sometimes, others would consider 1 smal factor and ignore something that in a way relates and then they draw the wrong conclusions for years ubntil something else comes up and proves otherwise where as i would have believed the accurate thing all along because of my way of relating 2 or 3 things…. If that makes any sense…. Anyway, i loved museums too. The mystery of some of what you find there is soooooo inspirational.
I think something that would be good to include is the use of multisensory methods of getting your information across. Speaking as a dyslexic who learns things better by doing things and by using all senses as I’m sure many kids are like that anyway as you will now. What kind of msueum is it just out of curiosity.
