ld student?

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

I have a student who was tested about six years ago, but they found no learning disability. Is there a possibility that they made a mistake. She is really organized, studies hard….but when it comes to the test forget it. She gets nervous, doesnt finish it on time, and most of the time fails. Any advice?

Hi Jeremy,
This could very well be Test Anxiety?
Where it’s not so much ‘forgetting’.
But rather how anxiety effects our Working Memory. Which is where we do our thinking.
Where basically anxiety comes in and occupies much of the space in our Working Memory, leaving less to work with.
But also importantly, disrupts our ‘Line of Thought’as well.
So this could be the problem?

They may not have made a mistake but either the testing did not show a gap great enough to qualify. Also, puberity does some amazing things - things that were true six years ago may not be true today. Follow your heart.
