look me in the eye

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

I just finished a book “look me in the eye” by John Robison who I saw at the Elms College in Chicopee Mass - they are designing a course for teachers around this book it is so wonderfully powerful. I thought I should share this. the book debuted on New York times best seller list at 13 and is now 11 - it is about aspergers but applies to all LD feelings of the LD person who feels he doesn’t fit in, is wired differently, is hopeless in a school situation…. and then there is success in four different careers for a high school drop out. The important peice here is the insight into a first person - and articulate first person - account of thought and actual feelings. Very inciteful for educators, parents and even those with the learning differences. He was cheered by a few autistic people in the audience.

I hope you will take a look and enjoy - google it if you want.
