I have never heard of Reading from Scratch.

Two programs I like are the book “Reading Reflex” by McGuiness ($20 at most bookstores) and the Sound Reading CD from http://www.soundreading.com .

RR will take a child to approximately a 4th grade reading level, and is written specifically for parents who want to tutor a child in reading. If you use this approach, I strongly recommend purchasing the company’s $39 parent support guide once you get to advanced code. The guide makes it very easy to work through advanced code systematically. Or, consider hiring a Phono-Graphix tutor.

The Sound Reading CD is excellent if the child is reading at less than a beginning 3rd grade level. For an 11yo, I’d get the teen version. It still starts with the basics, but it eliminates the graphics that appeal to the young crowd. The CD can be done independently by the child, and goes through multi-syllable word building (about a mid-3rd grade level). It makes a great supplement to “Reading Reflex”.

If your child is reading on a beginning 4th grade level or better, Rewards from http://www.sopriswest.com is excellent and easy for a parent to do at home.

How did you get the diagnosis of dyslexia? Most dyslexics have underlying visual and/or auditory processing problems that can usually be helped with appropriate therapy.

It looks dubious and snake oilish. While real vision therapy and auditory discrim. has its proper place, this is a bunch of half baked ideas that sound plausible.

I’d take a look at real proven methods with dyslexia including some of the things Nancy suggested. Also look into Orton Gillingham based methods. Teaching dyslexics reading is certainly very possible.
