Number Sense

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

Hello,

Has anyone used Number Sense? It is written by Alan D. Suter and published by Contemporary/ McGraw Hill. I use it with my students and I think it is a good program. Though, I’ve never heard it mentioned on this site, and it’s not on the list of top math programs that was posted not long ago. I guess I would just like to hear other educator’s opinion of this program.

Thanks,
Caron

I just saw your post. I hope you’re still looking for the info on Number Sense. The books I’m thinking about are thin workbooks, each teaching a particular area of math. They are very good. The explanations are clear, thorough, and concise. Each concept is taught step by step. The layout is very well done for kids with LD. There is a practice, but you’ll neeed to supplement it with other books. I’ve used it in middle school (7th-8th grade).
