My son just started 6th grade (middle school where we are…). He had an IEP through elementary school, but we were told at the end of 5th grade that he was no longer eligible for resource because his ability and test scores no longer showed enough discrepancy. However, he was placed on a “watch-and-consult” status.Now, he is having problems in math. He got an F on his first test, although when he brought the test home and I had him redo it, he understood all the concepts (and his teacher agrees…) and was able to complete the test with a minimum of help and prompting to stay on task. This kind of help was an accomodation put into place on his IEP in the past.What I am unclear on is, since his IEP is on a watch and wait status, can we still ask for accommodations? Testing without help just does not give a fair representation of what my son knows and is capable of producing. What to do?
