Processing Difficulties

I am looking for good reading material that will provide useful classroom strategies for processing difficulties. I am unclear whether the difficulty is auditory or visual or a combination of the two. It is not sensory related. The particular student in mind is receiving ESL services and is repeating first grade. She has not been identified as a special needs student but clearly has difficulty processing information/instructions.

Please advise.
