"Read Well" program

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

I am teaching elementary school special ed this year, for the first time, having taught high school previously. Read Well is the program being used currently and I am not familiar with it. It seems to be a good program, from what I have seen, but I was wondering if anyone out there has used it/is using it, etc. What do you think? I’d also like to know how it compares with other reading programs for young children (in this case, 2nd graders) like Phono-Graphix, Slingerland, etc. I’m not “up” on many of the programs designed for the little guys, having taught Herman and Wilson reading in the past. I am currently using Phono-Graphix for a teenager that I tutor and have been impressed with it so far.We are using Read Naturally for fluency and Explode the Code for practice, etc. I’d like to know what else I could be doing, etc., if anything. Thanks a lot! Sharon
