: lesson who need attention too.It might be hard to teach an ADD child to ski in a group lesson. The temptation of the mountain and the excitement of being outdoors and the thrill that skiing can be might be too much for an ADD child. You could sit and have a talk with this ADD kid or any other. Explain the situation. Explain that you have a group of students and obviously can’t spend all your time with him/her. Tell him/her there are rules and those rules are made to keep everyone safe. It isn’t fair or safe that he/she always has to be first and it isn’t safe or productive if he/she can’t listen to the lesson. Explain that if he/she can’t follow those basic rules, you understand, but that he/she needs to understand that you can’t have in a group lesson then. Offer to teach the child privately (and you could explain that it costs a fair bit more and Mom/Dad may or may not want to pay the extra cost for those private lessons) (if you really wanted to be a sport and your mountain would let you, you could give the private lesson at a group rate)After that, give him/her another chance. If the child can’t do it, ask your supervisor if you can dismiss a child from the class. No teacher can be all things to all children on or off the slopes.Good luck.

Group lessons never worked for my son. He had the same problems you mentioned. We opted to remove him from group classes and gave him private lessons. Now, when we go skiing, we put him in a morning private class to make sure he remembers his skills and safety rules, and then ski with him in the afternoon. I would suggest that to the parents.
