testing instruments

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

Good morning Everyone. I’m new to the board and wanted to say hi.

I am in the process of looking for a good testing instrument for IQ testing. The K-Bit looks very reliable and easy to administer.

Has anyone here tried it?

I would appreciate all thoughts.

The K-BIT is a cognitive screening measure, which doesn’t give you near as much information in comparison to the more comprehensive tests (i.e., WISC-IV, WJ-III, K-ABC, etc.). I’ve mainly used the K-BIT with children new to the school that are missing cognitive information within their records. I think it is a valid measure, but I have seen some variability from test to retest. When reviewing the findings with school staff and parents, I always give the disclaimer that it is just a screening tool. Overall, it’s not a bad instrument, if used properly.
