(Totally, utterly off-topic) Never Speak Too Soon

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

Well, between Sunday and Monday morning we had a couple of inches of snow
Nothing like living in the major city with the world’s most variable climate. :?

After chipping my car out of the ice block, we had to make an urgent run over the US border to the exciting metropolis of Malone NY, my new PO box address. Lovely scenic back roads, New England style villages, trees covered with fresh snow, and of course high gusting crosswinds, packed ice and drifts on the road, lots of fun.

The one-room border station was filled with guys in uniform — one little old fellow running the place and four hulking six-foot trainees, a bit strange until he explained why they were there.

On the way back, we were running by a pretty little meandering river about twenty or thirty feet wide and doing an S bend every hundred yards. Suddenly I saw ducks — and more ducks, and more ducks, and more ducks around each bend. Several hundred, possibly even a thousand of them all together, sitting quietly on the water with their heads all facing parallel into the wind. One of those little sudden gifts of beauty. The flock must have been on their way north across the border and took a quick stop to get out of the storm.

The ducks agree that spring is on its way, although perhaps the guy up there still has a few surprises to keep us on our toes.

Thanks for the praise, Janis, always welcome.
I just had a good day and wanted to add a little cheer to a few other people’s.

This may sound like a silly question, but it is real, I do like to know new terms as they come up; I know I use lots of visual imagery and selected vocabulary, that’s quite deliberate, but can you tell me just what you mean by concept imagery and which examples you were referring to? Thanks.
