Yes there are. I am the parent of an 11 daughter with dyslexia and am about to leave for my third trip to the U.S. for reading remediation for my daughter as little support is available in my home province of Ont. You can reach me at [email protected]

hello fellow canadians,
I’m in southern Ontario. My son sees Theresa Brassard (Hearing Health Centre) for his auditory processing problem. She is recommending Fast forword but she feel an auditory processing assessment will determine if this program will help him. She is an audiologist who is trained in FFW and Pace and many others. Has anyone been to see Theresa?
Any info is greatly appreciated.

Hi Carolyn, Janet, D, and Barb:

I am in Brampton (Southern ON) and my son is dyslexic. (Official dx: specific ld in communication as done by the school.) I would love to hear from any of you…email me at [email protected].

I am struggling with the issue of exceptional designation, as my son is not far behind his age group — we have not had a sympathetic teacher this year, and I don’t want to put too much
emphasis on this, but I have been advised by a savvy resource teacher (outside school) that exceptional designation is not always the best route, especially for kids “on the border”.

Take care and I look forward to hearing from anyone…
Elizabeth

Hi, I’m another Canadian here in the Vancouver area. My 8 yr old ds (gr. 3) has CAPD, with some visual issues, and diagnosed as severe ld. He has been through FFW, 1.5 yrs of intensive tutoring, and now we are on our 10th week of Audiblox. Whew! I haven’t seen any miracles yet, but so far the Audiblox looks very promising. I am pretty current on the resources available in the Van. area if anyone wants to chat.
