Know any good kid sites for current events?

If you do let me know. My child will need to read it in front of class and I am looking for interesting and easy to read sites. Thanks-

go to www.washingtonpost.com and search for “kidspost” You will need to register to gain access but they don’t make you give up too much personal information. Kidspost is a daily feature of the print edition that has articles on current events written especially for kids.

This is a site http://www.news-2-you.com that is great for kids with LD’s This is a simplified news paper that uses rebus symbols and has current events of interest to kids. It comes in both easy and harder versions but the rebus symbols it uses help kids that are not fluent readers.

There is a slight fee for this paper $70.00 a year but it is worth it. It has a puzzle and game page with a recipe to try at home. There are wh questions, not questions. With news 2 you I have discussed and used it as a writing prompt for some of the following current events, the Itidarod, the super bowl, ice fishing, the oscars, the Queen Mary 2, etc…
