I am trying to get Kurzweil up and running. The students hate the voices that came with the program. I am sure that it has a choice of all the free voices available. Does anyone have a suggestion on a better- human voice? I have only found ONE, and it is only sold in Korea???? I am trying to encourage students to use it. Some use it daily but about half of my students feel that they cannot concentrate with the computerized voices.
Re: digitized - synthetic speech
Mitch,
Which version of Kurzweil are you using? They have additional voices with v. 8.2 (I think that’s the most recent one for the PC).
In addition, go to nextup.com
(http://www.nextup.com/)
and listen to NeoSpeech Kate and Paul and AT & T Natural Voices MIke and Crystal. It’s good to offer a variety because what sounds good to those of us who don’t need this technology doesn’t necessarily work well for a particular student. Let each student customize what works best for them and enhances their academic performance.
