My 6th grader just had tendon release surgery for the third time for his toewalking. He also has low muscle tone and is very ‘bendy’ in his joints, although not at the waist. His back is quite stiff.
He was recently dx’d with SID as a result of his surgery recovery being intensely painful. I had been asking about it for years but it wasn’t until they couldn’t control his pain that they got a clue. :x
Toewalking and/or muscle weakness?
Another source for toe-walking is gastro distress. Some children with autism toe-walk because their digestive system isn’t operating properly. When the gluten and casein are eliminated from their diets the toe-walking often disappears.
I am not saying this is necessarily the case for your child, just that it is a potential source of habitual toe-walking.

The brain controls toewalking, weak muscles and stiff back. And pain of course.
Fix the brain.
